Setting:
Ba'al Pack Den
Description:
Dug near the fallen trees in the forest clearing, this den is well sized and roomy. Rocks are embedded in the soil that makes up the den's floor, ceiling, and walls. Sticks clutter the entrance way as well as the front of the den thanks to the fallen trunks above the entrance. It is relatively dark throughout the entire den, especially towards the back where the light from the entrance can't reach. There's the thick smell of wolves, a particular family of them, mixed with the smells of the forest and soil. Small grooves in the dirt have been made for more comfortable sleeping, leaves and fur littering the floor as well.
Characters:
Sanuye - Adult Female Wolf [Ba'al Alpha Female]
Fiera - Adult Female Wolf [Ba'al Beta Female]

Night was breaking down upon the Ba'al packlands, and with it a slight chill had stolen into the air. Sanuye had been out tracking down a small gangly herd of reindeer before she eventually had to turn and return to the den. She'd followed the scent all the way to the mountains and the edge of their territory, however once there she'd found something else but interesting and rather irritating at the same time. With a light grunt the alpha female squeezes herself into the den to excape the cold, eyes instantly searching for other bodies.
Earlier in the day, when the winds were still warm, Fiera roamed the lands stopping near the river for a while until growing bored and deciding to head back. Many scents were in the air, though only one was of any interest. It was food, but alone it would of been impossible to gain one a fair size for others. Heading back to the den sight, sun just taking to the horizon, the wolfess doesn't notice one of the alpha entering the den. She does though stop along those outside before making to the entrance herself.
It's once she enters that she turns to the noise behind her. Ears flick fowards and the alphess gives a low growl. She peers out and once spotting the beta gives a low snort of approval and backs away from the entrance. She didn't have pups so her caution was less then it may have been, but until she knew it was Fiera Sanuye wouldn't have let her guard down. She shifts to the back of the den and turns a few times before getting comfortable and eyeing the entrance curiously for the other.
Fiera reaches the entrance just in time to hear the low pitched growl. Stepping back, her ears drop till she given a sign of approval. Keeping there for a while longer, the beta steps in, circling around till she meets up at the dens center.
Sanuye rummbles softly in greeting once Fiera enters, tail tapping the ground a single time. "Fiera, you've had a good day I hope?" the alpha questions, "I was thinking possible a pack hunt, I caught the scent of a small herd that crossed the border at the mountains. If they return it could be a good meal." Sanuye shifts her weight, posture relaxing only slightly; she was a rather high-strung female. "I also caught the scent of another pack. Faint and far in the distance, but it was in the winds as well as on the herd."
Fiera returns the greeting as she takes a seat near the alpha. "Only as good as the day would allow me." Is her response as her mind recalls the days events. Perking an ear to the thought of a possible hunt, her tail flicks. "Yes, I believe it would." The scent of the other pack in the winds may pose to be a problem, but it wasn't something to worry over, least not for her. "I am more than willing to help bring in a good meal when the herd returns, even with the scent of others looming in the winds."
Thought is given and the alphess nods, "It won't be easy.. with just me you and Helios.. Jango is too young and I haven't seen Tana' in... moons." The alphess shrugs, loss was not an unusual acurance to her and Tana's vacancey would be for more then one reason. Sanuye shifts her weight some before questioning eyes turn towards the entrance. "Now it is just a waiting game.. when the herd will return.. and I can not help but let my interest be perked by the scent of the others. It has been a long time since these eyes have seen another pack of wolves," her voice rummbles softly.
"If it were easy then it wouldn't be worth our time and energy." Fiera was always one for a challange. "But I share your worry." Turning her gaze from the wolfess, she drops her ears for a moment in thought. "Perhaps there are others working for the same cause..." For food. "We could use them to our advantage." A suggestion that doesn't need to be acted upon. Turning back to the alpha when she mentions having an interest in wolves of another pack, Fiera blinks. "You are not thinking of searching for them are you?" she questions.
Sanuye scoffs, ears twitching, "Of course not. That would be stupid." She grummbles, turning her gaze away before shifting her feet, "I only worry if they are, as well, searching for food. I will not loose my packs meal to another lesser force." She has a god complex, especially for her pack. The alphess shifts her weight before returning her attention to Fiera, "You and I will go and scout tomorrow to see if the herd turned back and have returned to the lands. If we're lucky we could pick off a young weaker one, or at least see what we're dealing with."
Fiera nods soundly. "Of course." She didn't think her alphess was that stupid, let alone put them in danger of something such as interest in another pack. "Do not fret, they are of no threat to us. Our abilities are far beyond theirs," seems this complex is contagious. "Obtaining a meal from them is like childs play." Course things are always easier said than done. Giving a confident smile, Fiera nods, "If that is what needs to be done, Sanuye, then I will gladly go with you."
The alphess nods her head, "Very well then. Tomorrow you and I," she murmurs. "Get some rest, we'll be traveling and tiredness be it emotionally or in your paws is not acceptable." The pale wolfess settles her head comfortabley upon her paws, faintly mis-matched eyes focused upon the entrance of the den before sliding shut. Her ears remain slanted fowards and alert for some time before slowly settling into a casual relaxed state, her breathing easing and toes twitching every now and then. In her dreams, the hunt was already on.
Fiera nods faintly to the alphess once more before stretching out and placing herself on the ground. Seeing Snau take to a state of sleep it was obvious that she was now alone in this state of consious mind. Accepting this, the beta keeps an eye on things for a moment before rolling onto a side and letting out a huff to the ground. "Tomorrow." she speaks to herself quietly before silence consumes her again.
